NITRATE REMOVAL SYSTEMS High Flow Rate Nitrate Reduction Nitrate removal systems are commonly used on private water supplies and for light commercial applications, where nitrate levels exceed the recommended 50mg/l limit for drinking water as set out by the Drinking Water Inspectorate. Over 60% of the nitrate that enters our waterways is from agricultural run off – which is why these systems are incredibly popular in rural settings including for private water supplies (such as boreholes, springs and wells). The most effective method for removing nitrates from drinking water is using a nitrate specific ion exchange resin, which much like water softening resin requires periodic regeneration using a strong brine. Once installed these systems require very little maintenance, with regenerations automatically initiated by the control valve when capacity has been reached. Our systems are all meter controlled, ensuring they run more efficiently than timer based sytems, keeping waste water and salt usage to an absolute minimum. The valve is pre-programmed, so all that needs to be set on site is the time of day and feed water nitrate level in mg/l (ppm). How Often Do I Need To Replace The Media?Nitrate specific media generally lasts 10-15 years before it needs to be replaced. The lifespan of the media can vary depending on your nitrate levels, whether the system is programmed to the correct nitrate level and based on system maintenance e.g. ensuring it is always topped up with salt.
